Neshaminy Boys Basketball Team wins first ever memorial tournament

NHS Team_2014_JSG5267 The Neshaminy Redskins Varsity Boys Basketball team participated in the first ever Deby Recupido Memorial Holiday Basketball Tournament on December 29-30 and defeated the Suburban One League American Conference rival Upper Merion 52-36 in the tournament opener Dec. 29. They went onto win the first annual tourney title the next day with a 44-39 triumph over Philadelphia Public League rival Abraham Lincoln. The tournament is named after teacher Deby Recupido, who passed away in June 2014.  While she was teaching, she became a fixture at various athletic events and was so well liked by the basketball team that she was once named a guest captain during a game. The team chose to honor her memory by hosting a two day holiday hoops tourney in her name. Said her daughter Lauren,“They really appreciated her support and they wanted to show it.”
